Arizona Cardinals Need a Starting QB

The Arizona Cardinals had big problems and high expectations in 2011/2012. The Big Red’s failure last year was their inconsistency at many positions but the quarterback position, occupied by Kevin Kolb and John Skelton was a train wreck. The Cardinals did not qualify for the playoffs and find themselves rebuilding in 2013. Both Kolb and Skelton both performed comparatively well and it was not easy to choose between them.
There was a glimpse of hope when the Indianapolis Colts shocked everyone and released their veteran quarterback Peyton Manning, four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the National Football League (NFL). Many teams including Cardinals tried their luck to lure Manning to their city but the QB veteran ended up joining the Denver Broncos.
The team has spent the offseason so far by giving equal opportunities to both Kevin Kolb and John Skelton to prove their talent and the same is expected to be the case in training camp and preseason games. It is not clear when Ken Whisenhunt will announce the starting quarterback but some early reports have indicated that they might do it before preseason (which would make sense).
Kevin Kolb who is more experienced than Skelton has only played one season with the Cardinals while John Skelton has spent two seasons in Arizona Cardinal Organization. Both quarterbacks still do not know who will be the starter and who will serve as backup and this situation is somewhat becoming difficult to handle for both of them.
According to the Arizona Cardinals official website, Kolb said of the situation:
“It’s so odd to have (the competition) because a lot of times you don’t have it that way. Everyone has handled it well so far. The biggest thing is you just concentrate on doing your job.”
Skelton also shared his thoughts:
“If (competition) means five reps in practice, you make the most of it. If you are working with the second unit, or the first team, you have to make the most out of it.”

The San Francisco 49ers have finally announced a four-year contract with first-round draft choice A.J. Jenkins. Jenkins, who was also recruited by Florida, Florida State, Miami and South Carolina, was one of the more heralded recruits brought to Illinois by Ron Zook. He saw immediate action in 2008 as a true freshman, playing in all 12 games, including one start (11-287-3). Edward Jones Dome Arbitration

The STL Convention and Visitors Commission (CVC) voted to enter arbitration with the Rams concerning future renovations to the Edward Jones Dome. The two sides will choose three arbitrators to hear the case, which could last for six months or more. There was no way that the Rams were going to accept the CVC’s rather low $48 and $124 million offers to renovate the Dome.
