  • Georgia Frontiere - St. Louis Rams Owner Hospitalized

St. Louis Rams owner Georgia Frontiere has been hospitalized in Los Angeles California with an undisclosed illness, a family spokesman said.

"Our mother has been in a hospital for some health issues and is feeling better," Frontiere's son Chip Rosenbloom and daughter Lucia Rodriguez said in a statement read by family spokesman Gene Schwam.

Gene Schwam isn't unaware of the nature of Georgia Frontiere's illness or how long she has been in the hospital. He also wouldn't say what hospital she was in.

Georgia Frontiere, who turned 80 last month, has had health problems for a couple months and has not has not attended any of the team's games this season, although Smith said he believed Frontiere had been feeling better in recent weeks.

Georgia has been running the franchise since her husband, Carroll Rosenbloom, died in 1979. She moved the team from California to St. Louis in 1995, and has homes in St. Louis Missouri, Sedona, Arizona., and Malibu, California., Schwam said.

The Rams won their first Super Bowl after the 1999 season and lost to the New England Patriots after the 2001 season. But the franchise hasn't had a winning record since 2003 and is 3-10 this season with three games remaining.

Team president John Shaw said on Monday that the franchise would retain coach Scott Linehan for a third season. Linehan led the team to an 8-8 record last year but the Rams have been decimated by injuries this season with 11 players on injured reserve and quarterback Marc Bulger and running back Steven Jackson both missing significant time.

  • Green Bay Packer fans help Rams fill Edward Jones dome

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- It took the Green Bay Packers to sell out a St. Louis Rams game.

Much of the capacity crowd at the Edward Jones Dome on Sunday clearly rooted for the visiting team. Cheeseheads were everywhere and perhaps half of the stadium was clad in Packers' green and yellow, helping the visitors feel right at home in a 33-14 victory.

"It's a joke," running back Steven Jackson said. "The whole first level is Green Bay Packers' fans. It's a joke. We were at Lambeau Field."

It likely felt that way to the Rams, who have had three games blacked out on local television because they did not sell out. St. Louis is 1-6 at home and 3-11 overall with two games to go, challenging a 4-12 record in 1998 for the worst season since the franchise moved to the Midwest in 1995.

The Rams play their home finale on Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They anticipate another divided house.

"We know how loyal the Green Bay fans are and I'm sure on Thursday there are going to be a ton of Pittsburgh fans," quarterback Marc Bulger said. "You know, this year we just haven't been playing well at home."

Bulger also recognizes the Packers are having a banner season.

"Their fans are excited," Bulger said. "You can hear them in the pre-game, all the chatter. It looks like an exciting environment to play for that team, it reminds you of college a lot."

The Rams lost their first five home games before defeating Atlanta on Dec. 2 and have one more chance to avoid their worst home record since the move. They were 2-6 at home in 1997 and 1998.

The last one-win season at home came in Los Angeles in 1982.

"You're a little surprised to see more people in your house for the opposing team than for your team but you know it doesn't make you real happy or real excited," linebacker Will Witherspoon said. "But you've just got to say, 'Hey, I'm in a game.' It just makes it a road game for us."

The only time the entire crowd cheered together came after Packers quarterback Brett Favre set the NFL record for career yards passing in the fourth quarter on a 7-yard slant to Donald Driver. The game was stopped briefly and the crowd applauded Favre's latest record.

Favre's proximity to the record, needing 184 yards, and the Packers' storied history easily trumped the home-field advantage.

"Our fans are the best in the world," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "It gives our players a great lift.

"To see the defensive line raising their arms in the air on a big third down, it speaks volumes about the kind of fans we have."

The situation left some Rams players muttering.

"I mean, you kind of get to the point where some teams are going to travel well," Witherspoon said. "You just have to say they brought more people to the house than we did."

  • St Louis Ram's QB Marc Bulger questionable

ST. LOUIS (TICKER) -- St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger had a setback on Friday and he is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Bulger, who was recovering from a concussion, was cleared to practice on Tuesday. He practiced on Wednesday and Thursday, but did not feel well shortly thereafter. He practiced on a limited basis on Friday.

"Marc had really - what I thought - were two very good practices Wednesday and Thursday, but that's the objective part," Rams coach Scott Linehan said.

"I guess the subjective part is he didn't feel really good after (those) meetings. Because of that, it puts some questions in my mind as to whether or not he should be cleared to play. We're not going to put a guy out on the field if there's any doubt whatsoever when it comes to these kinds of injuries or any injuries."

Bulger, who suffered the concussion in a win over Seattle on November 25, has endured an injury-plagued campaign, also missing two games with broken ribs. The 30-year-old Bulger has six touchdown passes and nine interceptions in nine games this season.

The potential loss of Bugler is especially painful since backup signal-caller Gus Frerotte has a partially torn labrum in his throwing shoulder and isn't expected to play Sunday.

That means that the Rams (3-9) will turn to 26-year-old Brock Berlin, who will likely make his first career start. A third-year player out of Miami, Berlin has never played in an NFL game.

  • St Louis Ram WR Dante Hall out for season

Rams wide receiver/kick returner Dante Hall on Thursday was placed on injured reserve and is out for remainder of the season, according to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Hall, who suffered a high ankle sprain on October 7, aggravated the injury in a loss to Seattle on November 25.

He did not practice on Wednesday and becomes the 11th player to be placed on injured reserve this season for St. Louis (3-9), joining star left tackle Orlando Pace and cornerback Tye Hill, among others.

A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Hall has the second-most career return touchdowns in league history with 12 (six punts, six kickoffs).

Acquired in a 2007 pre-draft trade with Kansas City, Hall has averaged 25.1 yards on kickoff returns. He averaged 15.1 yards on punt returns, including a 85-yard touchdown return against Dallas on September 30.

  • Recap: Cleveland Browns 27, St. Louis Rams 20

The Cleveland Browns *** slapped the Lambs for the first time on the road. The St. Louis Rams still haven't won at all and probably have no chance of getting a win this year.

Derek Anderson threw 3 touchdown passes, two to Braylon Edwards, and the Browns came back from an early 14-point deficit in a 27-20 victory over the winless and injury-riddled St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

The Browns' defense contributed two monster plays in the final 2 minutes. Safety Sean Jones stopped Brian Leonard for no gain on 4th-and-1 from the 16 and Leigh Bodden picked off Marc Bulger at the Cleveland 28 with 38 seconds left.

The Browns (4-3) matched their win total from last season and have won consecutive games for the first time since Weeks 5 and 6 of the 2003 season, a span of 46 games.

Steven Jackson's return from a groin injury fired up the Rams (0-8), who scored on their first two possessions, but he was left again due to lower back tightness in the second quarter.

Bulger threw his first touchdown pass since Week 2 but missed some time with a sprained right thumb in the second half and fell short on a few chances to force overtime.

Torry Holt had a big day with six catches for 110 yards and a touchdown for the Rams, whose start is a franchise worst by two losses and they arent done yet.

They lost another lineman when guard Richie-Rich Incognito sprained his right knee in the first quarter, crippling their already bad running game. They began the game with only one opening-day starter, tackle Alex Barron.

The game was the second of four home games to far to be blacked out locally because it didn't sell out.

Edwards matched his career best with eight catches for 117 yards, his seventh career 100-yard game. Edwards scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 5-yard catch in the third quarter that put the Browns ahead 24-17. The Browns drove 80 yards on the opening possession of the second half, during which they overcame four penalties for 25 yards and converted three third downs.

Joe Jurevicius had the monster catch of the drive, a 24-yarder on third-and-17 to the St. Louis 45. Jurevicius had a season-high five receptions for 76 yards.

After totaling nine points with no touchdowns the previous two weeks, the Rams came out firing and reached the end zone on their first two drives against the porous Cleveland defense. Holt beat Bodden on a fly pattern for a 38-yard gain on the game's first play.

Jackson had four carries for 31 yards on the opening possession capped by his first score of the year on a 2-yard run. Holt's 1-yard catch in the back of the end zone made it 14-0 with about five minutes to go in the first quarter.

  • St. Louis Rams DE Leonard Little out for the season

St. Louis Rams defensive end Leonard Little will have surgery this week to repair a torn ligament in his left big toe, and that will be the end of his crappy season.

Meanwhile, guard Richie Incognito said Monday he'll have surgery this week on his dislocated kneecap, and is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks.

Little let everyone know about his plans for the surgery Monday as the Rams, at 0-8 off to the worst start in franchise history, returned from a bye week.

"It isn't the type of injury where it will heal on its own," Little said. "If that was the case, then it should have felt a lot better by now. Surgery is the only way to repair the ligament."

Dr. Robert Anderson, the team orthopedist for the Carolina Panthers, will perform the operation. Rehab is expected to take four to six months (the rest of this year).

Little sprained the toe when his left foot was caught in the turf in a 22-3 loss at Baltimore. The injury made it difficult for Little to push off on the pass rush and hasnt played well since. He visited Anderson in North Carolina during the bye week to discuss options.

"We pretty much knew what he was going to say," Little said. "We tried to give it two weeks for it to heal back up, but it never responded like it's supposed to."

Little is the Ram's all-time sacks leader, but was off to a slow start even before the injury. The 10th-year player has just one sack, against Baltimore's Kyle Boller. He had 13 last season, second most in his career, and he was a Pro Bowl alternate.

Richie Incognito was hurt when the knee popped out of place in the first quarter of a loss to Cleveland. The diagnosis was a partial dislocation with cartilage damage.

Running back Steven Jackson might play Sunday at New Orleans. Jackson was sidelined for a month with a groin injury, then played the first quarter against the Browns before developing back spasms and missing the rest of the game.

"Steven looks good. He feels a lot better," coach Scott Linehan said. "I think having some time off and being able to calm that down a little bit was real good for him. He did some conditioning today. We'll start him back in and do some light work on Wednesday."
